School Policies and Procedures
The standards we hold ourselves and our schools to, keeps everyone safe - from personnel to students and their families.
CLSSA Policy Manual
At a minimum, all CLSs are required to comply with this policy manual. However, some CLSs may have their own policies and procedures in place.
CLSSA can provide you a copy of the generic policy on request. Alternatively, we recommend you request a copy of your CLS’s policy directly from them.
Child Safe Environment Compliance Statement
All children have the right to live, grow and thrive in an environment where they feel safe. This is regardless of their age, gender identity, sexuality, culture or beliefs.
All CLSs are required to be compliant under the Children and Young People (Safety) Act 2017 and Children and Young People (Prohibited Persons) Act 2016. This means that all CLSs:
- Develop and put in place appropriate child safe environment policies and procedures – these are reviewed at least every 5 years
- Ensure all CLS personnel have a non-prohibited Working With Children Check (WWCC) and a current Child Safe Environments (CSE) training certificate
CLSSA submits a Child Safe Environments Compliance Statement on behalf of all CLSs. We also monitor WWCC’s and CSE certificates. CLSs must comply with this to be accredited, to have their membership renewed with CLSSA and to receive CLS funding from the Government of South Australia.
